The capital city of Japan - Tokyo is an enormous bustling city made up of 23 wards. There are numerous tourist attractions in the city alone. This blog will focus on some of these attractions.

Senso-ji

Senso-ji is Japan’s Buddhist temple and it is the oldest temples constructed in Japan (completed in the year 628). It is built to show the Buddhist goddess of Mercy, Guanyin.

During Spring, Tokyo’s most popular festival Sanja Matsuri (3 Shrine Festival)  is celebrated here. Lots of parades, music and dancing.

Behind the temple you can find a street called Nakamise dori ((仲見世通り) filled with small shops selling food and sourvenirs. Here is a picture of a small but delicious warm snack I bought from one of the shops behind the temple.

They have a variety of games including rhythm, dancing and fighting games. It is common to find students coming here after school.

Located at Harajuku, this street is full of fashion shops, young people/culture. This place is especially good to visit if you are interested in fashion.

Hachiko statue

ハチ公

Erected near the Shibuya crossing. Don’t forget to visit the famous statue!

Hachiko was a name of a dog who would wait at Shibuya station every afternoon for its owner. One day the owner died from cerebral hemorrhage, however, Hachiko continued to wait at Shibuya station every afternoon for the next 9 years before he died. This story is well known throughout Japan and it is a well worth visit to this popular tourist monument.

Bonus - Magikarp taiyaki!

If you ever do find yourself wandering around Akihabara, look out for the store selling Magikarp taiyaki! It's very yummy and would 100% recommend trying it, whether or not you are a pokemon lover!

Here’s a picture of the delicious hot warm magikarp before it was eaten. It is especially nice during winter, temperatures normally nearly 0 degrees!
